UCICA Canada condemns fees for submitting proposals rule and has decided to share the cost with members

Call for proposals and amendments: The corporation is paying close to 1/2 Million Dollars to its legal counsels to protect itself from the public and the members.

The Corporation has following new rule for members who wish to submit proposals:

"Pursuant to Subsection 75.4 of By-law 2016-1, a Member may be assessed a charge, at the Council’s discretion, to cover the cost of legal review of their proposal as well as its translation into both Official Languages (or the review of a translation provided with the submitted proposal)."

This means, if any member proposes a change or amendment, he/she may face a large legal bill for simply exercising his/her right to do so.

UCICA Canada condemns this rule and has decided to share the cost with members if the member is billed for submitting any proposal.

Members are encouraged to prepare proposals and contact UCICA via its website link created for 2017 AGM for related support
